About The Position

Step by Step Montessori Brooklyn Park, part of the Endeavor Schools Family, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant School Leader/Assistant Director. This role involves assisting the School Leader in the day-to-day operations of the school, demonstrating exceptional leadership, professional conduct, and communication skills. The Assistant School Leader will also help orchestrate relations with staff, students, and families to foster a strong sense of community and guide the school's operations in compliance with all federal, state, Montessori accreditation, and internal regulations ethically. This position requires a balance of 50% direct classroom care and 50% administrative/leadership tasks.

Requirements

  • An Associate’s degree in education preferred or equivalent experience.
  • A willingness to learn Montessori essential principles to support the development of high-fidelity Montessori practices.
  • Specific requirements set by minimum state standards and/or accreditation.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in the field of education serving a student population and school community of comparable scope.
  • Proficiency with technology and software applications including current version of MS Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with revenue generation, budgets and financial accountability is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with School Leader on meeting enrollment objectives and established metrics for school performance by planning and executing student retention and enrollment activities.
  • Collaborate with the School Leader to implement the Montessori program and nurture a culture that strives for excellence while valuing and recognizing the contributions of each team member.
  • Ensure the school complies with all federal, state, and local regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Maintain ratios and distributions at all times, using creative and financially responsible means to ensure classrooms are properly staffed.
  • Participate in the hiring and retention of highly qualified staff as measured by education and experience.
  • Partner with School Leader to monitor employee performance through goal setting, feedback, and periodic evaluations.
  • Provide recognition and/or take necessary disciplinary actions (including performance improvement plans) conducive to staff development and success.
  • Spend 50% of time in direct care in classrooms as needed.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
