The Assistant Sales Manager is responsible for working closely with the Sales Manager and Director of Sales to lead the inside sales team, improve performance and achieve business goals. Our goal is to ensure our clients are getting answers quickly and that our team is empowered to make educated decisions as their knowledge deepens. This position is located in Middletown, RI with availability to travel to our Saugerties, NY location quarterly. The Assistant Sales Manager is responsible for delegation of online inquiries, assisting with order accuracy in our computer systems, troubleshooting inventory questions and managing the Middletown office including scheduling, keeping the team on task, answering team questions and building office morale. This position will be the direct report for our Sales Coordinators and Customer Service Representatives in all locations. The Assistant Sales Manager is also responsible for strengthening customer relationships, coaching and mentoring team members in decision making and following processes that are in line with company vision and structure. Clear communication skills, the willingness to become a team player and help when needed is the kind of attitude that is required to be successful in this position. Our management style is a team approach to problem solving. This position reports to the Sales Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 3-5+ years of hotel/venue/event experience in a customer-facing role
  • Strong commitment to high levels of customer service
  • Familiarity with operations-high volume companies and how Sales strategies tie into that
  • Knowledge of the event planning process and understanding of the mechanics of executing successful events
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast paced & constantly changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and have a “Make it Happen” attitude
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skillsExcellent decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and exude confidence with clients

Nice To Haves

  • Event rental industry experience is a plus
  • Prior management experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Oversee staff scheduling to ensure business needs are met (Paylocity & Outlook Calendars)
  • Assist with bringing SOPs to completion, reviewing, and maintaining them
  • Become a power user of Point of Rental, Salesforce, Vonage and Power BI
  • Offer guidance and solutions to sales team to make sound decisions for our clients
  • Mentor and coach junior team members to become future event industry leaders
  • Observe and coach sales team to maximize efficiency to their workflow
  • Partner with the Sales team on organizing Client events (Showroom open houses, holiday entertainment, etc.)
  • Assist on phones and order entry as needed
  • Assist in input and presentations for sales meetings, manager meetings and ongoing training
  • Work with Senior Management to develop strategies and achieve sales goals
  • Assist in creating and organizing staff training schedules for new hires and retraining as needed
  • Execute One on Ones with Customer Service Representatives and Sales Coordinators to check in with each team member regularly, review performance quarterly & conduct annual year end evaluations
  • Spend time in all departments to understand the bigger picture of how the business operates
  • Become an expert on understanding clients & accounts in order to best delegate online inquiries to the sales team
  • Assist with first round interviewing/ screening of sales applicants for open positions
  • Gaining product knowledge to better answer the teams questions, provide input on streamlining processes & understand client needs
