About The Position

Operation PAR, Inc. is a non-profit organization offering the full continuum of services for individuals with substance use and/or mental health diagnosis. PAR has been providing comprehensive behavioral health treatment in west Florida since 1970 through advocacy, education, clinical services, and research.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse required
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Must have a valid and current driver's license or state ID card.
  • Must pass a level II background check and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • One-year psychiatric nursing experience in an in-patient or out-patient mental health or substance abuse setting preferred
  • One year of supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall delivery of quality nursing services provided at Operation PAR inpatient treatment programs while also ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Directly supervises direct care nursing staff at two PAR locations which offer residential substance use disorder treatment.
  • Maintains quality medical services for clients based on rules, regulations, and agency standards.
  • Assures that all documentation is accurate, timely and of the utmost quality.
  • Assures that interactions with funders, third party payers, and client families are timely, accurate and courteous.
  • Responsible for implementation of new policies, procedures, forms, and other changes.
  • Assists with the Endocarditis program.
  • Assesses development needs of subordinates and provides opportunities for development.
  • Ensures cross-training of medical staff.
  • Monitors staff tasks: recognizes areas that are noteworthy or deficient and provides appropriate feedback and/or direction.
  • Uses the Nursing Process to collect client data upon admission in an orderly and organized fashion.
  • Collaborates with other members of the care team in planning care.
  • Involves client and significant others, as appropriate in developing plan of care.
  • Updates plan of care whenever physician orders or nursing interventions are discontinued, or updated orders are initiated, in a timely manner.
  • Identifies client’s discharge needs and coordinates appropriate referrals.
  • Protects client’s rights to privacy and confidentiality in the preparation and handling of records, especially in relation to the communication of client information with third parties.
  • Assesses the environmental needs of client by evaluating ADLs, mental status, etc.
  • Understands a variety of models and theories of addiction and other problems related to substance use disorders.
  • Recognizes potential for substance use disorders to mimic a variety of medical and psychological disorders and the potential for medical and psychological disorders to co-exist with addiction and substance abuse.
  • Understands the established diagnostic criteria for substance use disorders and describes treatment modalities and placement criteria within the continuum of care.
