About The Position

STV is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer with 10+ years of experience to join our Water Division as part of our Construction Management team supporting a NYCDEP infrastructure project in New York City. This is an opportunity to support critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects while working alongside a highly experienced team delivering complex municipal programs across the region. Key Responsibilities: Support the Resident Engineer (RE) and Construction Manager (CM) in the day-to-day oversight of construction activities on a major NYCDEP project. Assist in managing inspection staff and ensuring timely and accurate daily reporting in accordance with client requirements. Serve as a liaison between contractors, design teams, and client stakeholders. Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings. Maintain project documentation including correspondence, reports, and contract records. Assist in reviewing construction plans, specifications, and change orders for constructability and compliance. Support the preparation and facilitation of project meetings including progress, safety, and coordination meetings. Monitor contractor performance related to safety, schedule, quality, and overall responsiveness. Assist in reviewing and processing contractor payment applications in coordination with project controls. Support project closeout activities and ensure all documentation is complete and compliant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in construction management, with prior experience as an Assistant Resident Engineer or Senior Inspector on municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; PE license preferred or ability to obtain.
  • Experience with NYCDEP, NYCDDC, or similar agencies strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation, contract administration, and field coordination.
  • Strong geotechnical background and experience.
  • Strong concrete placement background and experience.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York.
  • Experience supporting NYCDEP and/or NYCDDC construction projects.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with clients, contractors, and other team members.
  • Interest in supporting business development and proposal efforts.
