About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) with 10 years of experience to join their Water Division. This role is part of the construction management team for the SFPUC Biosolids Project in San Francisco, CA. The ARE will utilize their experience and technical knowledge of municipal infrastructure, water and wastewater facilities, and general building projects to successfully execute and manage construction under the supervision of the Construction Manager and Resident Engineer.

Requirements

  • Prior experience as an Assistant Resident Engineer on water/wastewater projects.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Previous or current experience working with SFPUC.
  • 10 years’ experience with at least 5 years of Assistant Resident Engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer in Training is preferred
  • Professional Engineer – California (active) is highly preferred
  • CCM is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing a safe and healthful workplace.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Active participation in regional or national professional associations.
  • Interest and ability to network, support proposals and contribute to the firm’s growth in the NorCal construction market.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the firm’s day-to-day extension of staff services for construction on this $2.4B Project.
  • Assist the Resident Engineer (RE) in managing change order review and response.
  • Assist the RE in preparation for Testing/Start-Up/Commissioning/Acceptance of all facility equipment and systems.
  • Assist the RE in coordination with other projects within the Southeast Plant.
  • Prepare general correspondence, required reports and deliverables.
  • Coordinate inspection staff.
  • Act as liaison to the design team.
  • Provide technical reviews of construction plans and specifications and project changes for merit.
  • Monitor Contractor performance, schedule, overall responsiveness and effectiveness.
  • Attend meetings with client managers.
  • Work with Contractor staff to maintain project goals regarding cost, schedule, quality, etc.
  • Support the review, preparation and processing of Contractor payment.
  • Assist the RE in leading meetings, and other responsibilities as assigned.
