About The Position

DT Global is managing the next phase of Australia's investment in strengthening law and justice services in Papua New Guinea (PNG) for a 4-year period until December 2027. The program aims to contribute to PNG's law and justice sector capacity to provide inclusive, safe, secure, and accountable law and justice foundations for peaceful and prosperous communities, equitable economic development, and private sector growth. The program aligns with the Government of Papua New Guinea's law and justice sector goal. It will focus on three End of Program Outcomes (EOPOs): 1) Improved community safety and access to justice at the local level, especially for vulnerable groups; 2) Increased provision of inclusive, responsive, and accountable law and justice services by responsible agencies; and 3) Improved sectoral leadership, coordination, and accountability mechanisms. The program has a strong focus on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Sorcery Accusation Related Violence (SARV), and Anti-Corruption, with cross-cutting themes of gender equality, disability equity, and social inclusion (GEDSI). Strategies include Locally Led Development and Adaptive Management. The program will continue Australia's support in up to seven locations. DT Global Asia Pacific aims to positively impact people's lives through delivery excellence, co-creating locally led solutions in partnership with governments, communities, and stakeholders. With over 1,500 staff and extensive development experience, DT Global tackles complex challenges with innovative thinking and a commitment to long-term impact.

Requirements

  • Minimum of undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • 2 or more years of experience undertaking research and consultations related to law and justice.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Strong local knowledge and networks in PNG.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of the research plan approved by the Reference Group.
  • Conduct data collection.
  • Engage with stakeholders.
  • Perform analysis.
  • Investigate the causes and drivers of remand in 6 provinces.
  • Work to a high professional research standard to deliver an informative, nuanced, and rigorous report to the PNG Law and Justice Sector.
