About The Position

The laboratory of Dr. Daniel Cosgrove at The Pennsylvania State University seeks an Assistant Research Professor to work as part of a research team focused on plant cell wall structure, biomechanics, and the action of expansins. The successful candidate will carry out team research including, but not limited to, the biological, biochemical and biophysical actions of expansins in an evolutionary/phylogenetic context, particularly in Arabidopsis thaliana. This is a term position; length of the term will be discussed during the interview process. Continuation past the term length discussed will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.

Requirements

Ability to plan, execute, interpret, document, and troubleshoot independent research.
Ability to collaborate effectively with other computational and experimental members of a diverse research team.
Experience with molecular biology and genetic engineering.
Experience with phenotype characterization of plants.
Excellent organizational skills.
High-level verbal and written English communication skills.
Ph.D.
At least 3 years postdoctoral experience in a scientific field relevant to the proposed research.

Nice To Haves

Experience with the biological, biochemical and biophysical actions of expansins in an evolutionary/phylogenetic context, particularly in Arabidopsis thaliana.
