The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA is seeking an Assistant Research Professor to work with the research group of Professor Jon-Paul Maria. This position deals with thin film synthesis science, microelectronic materials, materials for quantum information systems, materials for infrared nano-photonics, high-entropy materials, and the fundamentals of ferroelectricity. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct experimental research that contributes to multiple programs in these areas. The research is collaborative with teams supported by three MURIs (ARO, ONR, and AFOSR), an NSF MRSEC, and a DoE EFRC. These teams will help the successful candidate receive support from partners specializing in multiscale modeling, beamline science, and multi-modal microscopy. This is a term position; length of the term will be discussed during the interview process. Continuation past the term length discussed will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.
