Assistant Recreation Ranger
About The Position
Helix Water District is looking for a Part-Time Assistant Recreation Ranger to work at their Lake Jennings. This role is ideal for individuals who love the outdoors and want to work on a team that provides excellent customer service. The position offers several perks, including competitive pay starting at $19.41/hour, free fishing, a free private boat launch, and a free day pass to enjoy the lake and its amenities. The role involves shifts varying between 5 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays. Availability is required Monday through Sunday in the month of July. The position typically involves 16-25 hours per week, not exceeding 950 hours per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). This is a part-time role with no benefits.
Requirements
- Valid California driver's license.
- Good communication skills.
- Friendly and courteous demeanor with the ability to use diplomacy when enforcing rules and regulations.
- General maintenance experience, including familiarity with hand tools and power-driven equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to swim.
- Knowledge of water safety.
- Reliable self-starter who works well with minimum supervision.
- Ability to hike up to 2-3 miles in rough and steep terrain.
- Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with fishing and lake regulations.
- Sell lake tickets, licenses, and permits.
- Maintain the cleanliness and security of the lake and surrounding areas.
