Assistant Purchaser/Buyer
About The Position
Haakon Industries is seeking a highly organized Assistant Purchaser to support its manufacturing operations. This role involves working closely with the Component Purchaser to manage material procurement, monitor inventory levels, communicate with suppliers, and ensure production teams have necessary materials. The position requires regular interaction on the production floor, collaborating with various departments such as Production, Warehouse, Maintenance, Accounting, and Engineering to maintain material flow and production schedules. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, enjoys problem-solving, and is comfortable working with both people and data.

Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in purchasing, buying, inventory control, logistics, warehouse operations, or manufacturing
- Experience using ERP, MRP, or purchasing software
- Very strong overall computer skills
- Experience communicating with suppliers and tracking purchase orders
Responsibilities
- Purchase materials and monitor inventory to support daily manufacturing operations
- Track purchase orders and communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, and delivery schedules
- Support cycle counting and inventory accuracy throughout the facility
- Assist with purchasing for production, maintenance, paint, and other indirect materials
- Work directly with supervisors and production teams to resolve material shortages and answer questions
- Work with our Accounting team and suppliers to resolve invoice discrepancies and support the accounts payable process
- Assist with onboarding new suppliers and maintaining vendor information
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and data within our ERP system
- Research suppliers and identify opportunities to improve cost, quality, and service
- Support the Component Purchaser with special projects and continuous improvement initiatives
