About The Position

The Assistant Provost of Undergraduate Advising and Engagement provides institutional leadership in support of undergraduate advising and engagement initiatives that advance student success. Serves as a collaborative institutional resource for colleges, advancing a student-centered framework that promotes communication, consistency, innovation, and excellence in advising. Partners with the Office of the University Registrar, Faculty Senate committees, and other campus partners to promote the implementation of undergraduate academic policies and governance decisions. Advances institutional priorities related to student engagement, retention, progression, and timely degree completion. The Office of Undergraduate Education provides institutional leadership for undergraduate academic policy, General Education, curriculum oversight, academic advising, student engagement, assessment, and student success initiatives. Working collaboratively with academic colleges, the Office of Undergraduate Education supports the University's distributed advising model through policy coordination, communication, professional development, assessment, strategic planning, and continuous improvement. This position works in partnership with college advising leaders and campus stakeholders to support consistent implementation of undergraduate academic policies, General Education requirements, curriculum changes, and advising best practices. Convenes advising leaders, cultivates a collaborative community of practice, coordinates university-wide professional development and assessment initiatives, advocates for the advising profession, and advances institutional priorities related to student engagement, retention, progression, and timely degree completion. Contributes to the strategic planning, administration, and continuous improvement of undergraduate education initiatives across the University.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and fifteen (15) years of experience; OR master's and thirteen (13) years of experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of undergraduate curriculum, General Education requirements, and academic policies.
  • Knowledge of the best national practices in academic advising, including NACADA principles and emerging trends in undergraduate advising and student success.
  • Understanding of student engagement, transition, persistence, and success strategies in higher education.
  • Strong organizational, strategic planning, facilitation, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze institutional data and develop evidence-based recommendations.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across academic colleges and administrative units.
  • Knowledge of advising technologies, degree audit platforms, and data-informed student success tools.
  • Ability to lead through collaboration, influence, consensus-building, and strategic partnership.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree in Higher Education, Educational Leadership, Student Affairs, or a related field.
  • Experience leading advising, student success, or enrollment initiatives at the college or institutional level.
  • Experience with DegreeWorks or comparable degree audit systems.
  • Experience leading institutional initiatives and cross-functional collaborations.
  • Experience interpreting and implementing undergraduate academic policies and curriculum requirements.
  • Experience utilizing student information systems, degree audit platforms, advising technologies, or comparable student success systems.
  • Active participation in NACADA or other professional organizations related to academic advising.
