The Union County Prosecutor is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as an Assistant Prosecutor. This role involves performing legal research; drafting, reviewing, and filing pleadings; attending court hearings, prosecuting cases on behalf of the State of Ohio in Juvenile and Adult Felony Court. Requirements

  • Possession of Juris Doctorate and two (2) - four (4) years' experience as a practicing attorney.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated.
  • Must be a lawyer in good-standing with the Ohio Supreme Court.

Responsibilities

  • Performs legal research; analyzes legal issues; remains up to date on the latest case and statutory law; prepares, reviews, and files pleadings; represents the State of Ohio in trials and hearings; interviews witnesses; answers legal questions; drafts legal opinions.
  • Represents the State in criminal litigation; writes motions, responses, and appellate briefs. Prepares complaints and indictments and attends grand jury.
  • Attends meetings on behalf of the Union County Prosecutor or State of Ohio; provides legal advice to clients; answers and responds to requests for information by the general public; may be assigned to special projects.
  • Maintains required licensures, certification, and continuing education requirements, if any.
  • Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Attends staff meetings as assigned.
