Join a mission-driven legal team where your work directly impacts the residents and future of Delaware County. As an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, you’ll take on a dynamic and diverse civil practice with meaningful responsibility, courtroom and advisory experience, and the opportunity to shape local government operations—all without the pressure of billable hours. This role offers the chance to handle a broad range of complex and engaging legal matters, including contracts, land use and zoning, employment law, public records and open meetings, real estate, taxation, development, construction law, election and levy law, and other issues affecting county government. Attorneys in this position serve as trusted legal advisors to elected officials, county agencies, and departments while representing the Prosecuting Attorney’s clients before local, state, and federal boards and administrative agencies. In addition to litigation and advocacy, this position includes conducting legal research, drafting opinions and memoranda, and providing practical legal guidance on issues that shape county policy and operations. The work is varied, collaborative, and impactful—ideal for attorneys who enjoy solving complex problems and working closely with public leaders. Delaware County offers the stability and purpose of public service combined with the professional autonomy attorneys value. The workload is steady and occasionally fast-paced, but responsibilities are clearly defined, and attorneys are trusted to exercise independent judgment with support and direction from the Chief of the Civil Division and the Prosecuting Attorney. This position also provides exceptional work-life balance and long-term career benefits.
