About The Position

The Assistant Manager plays a key leadership role in the daily operations of the property, supporting the Property Manager to ensure smooth management of leasing, resident relations, maintenance coordination, and administrative functions. This position requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining high occupancy and resident satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the multifamily housing industry, with 3+ years of experience in property management or related field, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in business administration, Real Estate, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with property management software is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel as required to support property operations.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of leasing practices and fair housing regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and property management systems.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Property Manager in the daily operations of the property.
  • Oversee office procedures, ensuring compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Monitor rent collections and support rent enforcement efforts, including late notices and payment plans.
  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping and timely reporting of financial and operational metrics.
  • Support and motivate the leasing and maintenance teams, fostering a productive work environment.
  • Provide training and mentoring for team members as needed.
  • Step in to supervise the team and manage operations in the absence of the Property Manager.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to resident inquiries, concerns, and complaints.
  • Promote positive resident experiences to support retention and community satisfaction.
  • Participate in community events and initiatives that build resident engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Leasing Agent to ensure high occupancy levels and effective marketing strategies.
  • Review and approve lease applications, ensuring compliance with company policies and fair housing laws.
  • Monitor availability reports and adjust leasing strategies as needed.
  • Assist in managing maintenance requests and scheduling, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Help oversee property inspections and ensure upkeep meets company standards.
  • Support vendor coordination and monitor service quality.
  • Assist with the preparation of weekly, monthly, and annual reports as required.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including fair housing laws.
  • Maintain accurate records related to leasing, tenant communications, and maintenance activities.
