About The Position

The Assistant Property Manager/Front Desk position assists the property manager in the day-to-day front-line operations of the property. This role involves preparing and scheduling Desk Clerks, ensuring adequate coverage and replacements, training and motivating new clerks, and monitoring building traffic. 6th Street Place is a new property providing homes for 94 Los Angelenos, located in Skid Row and accessible via public transportation. Mercy Housing is the largest nonprofit affordable housing provider in the nation, focused on building, preserving, and managing program-enriched housing. This is an on-site position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of administrative, office, accounting, and/or customer service, including as a desk clerk.
  • Property management work experience and knowledge of applicable local and federal housing laws.
  • Learn and adhere to Fair Housing regulatory requirements.
  • Dependable, punctual, and reliable.
  • Legally operate a motor vehicle (valid driver's license).
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication.
  • Basic proficiency of Microsoft Word and property management software.
  • Effectively operate office equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1 year of Affordable Housing experience assisting a Property Manager.
  • Lived experience.
  • Scheduling experience.
  • Two (2) years of administrative, office, accounting, and/or customer service, including as a desk clerk.
  • Knowledge of Yardi database and real estate property management applications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and schedule Desk Clerks ensuring adequate coverage and replacements when needed.
  • Train and motivate all new clerks.
  • Monitor the traffic in and out of the building.
  • Assist with the collection of rent and other income on a monthly basis.
  • Make bank deposits and forward receipts to National Office.
  • Assist with the leasing process from initial application to move-in when needed.
  • Collaborate with the site team and residents to create and strengthen a healthy community.
  • Facilitate on-site communication.
  • Monitor property goals.
  • Attend all staff meetings.
