About The Position

OHLA USA is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join their team in the Greater Chicago Area. This role partners with the field leadership team to ensure safe, high-quality, and profitable project delivery. The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring projects are completed on time and under budget. This role requires expert knowledge of contract specifications and involves providing senior management with project status updates and profit projections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field/equivalent experience.
  • Heavy Civil Construction background with 5+ year’s field experience.
  • Experience managing multiple Project Engineers.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to function as a team builder/player.
  • The ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.

Nice To Haves

  • 10-hour and 30-hour OSHA certificates are preferred.
  • Previous Roadway, Bridge, Railroad experience in the Greater Chicago area/knowledge of local practices preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and directing the project team by providing the communication, coordination and follow-up necessary to meet project goals and objectives.
  • Maintaining ongoing training and mentoring of project team.
  • Providing ongoing project information and project reviews as required by management.
  • Coordinating training and compliance measures to ensure project procedures are followed.
  • Ensuring scope of work, schedule and budget are clearly defined and understood by senior management and all project participants, including the client.
  • Determining controls and maintaining overall project and discipline schedules and budgets.
  • Tracking schedule and budget progress with project milestones and taking all action necessary to keep project on track.
  • Identifying and securing necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget and/or schedule.
  • Maintaining ongoing communication with client, making adjustments as necessary to comply with clients’ needs within contractual obligations, or just adjusting project deliverables to meet the client and stakeholders needs.
  • Following and ensuring conformance with OHLA USA policies and procedures, including safety policies.
