As an Assistant Project Manager, the role involves supporting the Project Manager to ensure projects stay within the estimator's budget and assisting the project team in exceeding client expectations. This position acts as a liaison between the general contractor, the general manager, and the superintendents. Key activities include generating reports tracking project progress and reporting findings to the Project Manager, processing change orders, and timely billing for all work performed. The Assistant Project Manager also assists in communicating material ordering, delivery, and addressing any challenges that could impact contractual timelines. Prior to commencing work, they assist the Project Manager in evaluating the contractual scope of work and ordering necessary materials. The role also involves proactively running reports to ensure project timelines and profitability metrics are met. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for establishing relationships within the Sobieski teams, General Contractor, and other contractors to promote a collaborative environment, providing backend support and contributing to a winning team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, construction management, or architecture OR associate degree with equivalent work-related experience
  • 0-3 years of direct project experience in the construction industry
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, including their design, architecture, interoperability with other proprietary systems, sequences of operation, networking, and communication methodology
  • Knowledge of project management software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Spitfire
  • Familiarity with financial accounting systems
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Writer, and Visio
  • Valid driver's license
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Tenacity to get things done on time
  • Desire to learn Project Management

  • Construction quality control (USACE CQM-C) certification

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager and ensure that projects come in under the estimator's budget.
  • Provide support to the project team to exceed client expectations.
  • Act as a liaison between the general contractor, the general manager, and the superintendents.
  • Generate reports tracking the progress of the project and report findings back to the Project Manager.
  • Process change orders and bill for all work performed timely.
  • Assist in the communication of material ordering, delivery and any challenges that could impact the project's ability to meet contractual timelines.
  • Assist the Project Manager in evaluating the contractual scope of work prior to commencing work on a project.
  • Order the materials needed for project completion in a timely manner.
  • Proactively run reports and provide to the Project Manager to ensure that the project timelines and profitability metrics are being met.
  • Establish strong relationships within the Sobieski teams, General Contractor and other contractors working on the project to promote a Win/Win environment for everyone.
  • Deliver backend support while contributing to a winning team.
