About The Position

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of field operations on complex construction and industrial projects. Working closely with the Project Manager and Director of Operations, this role coordinates labor, equipment, materials, logistics, scheduling, and client communications while leading site management teams. The position ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies, contract requirements, and quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, project coordination, and customer relationship skills.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and coordinates work (labor, equipment and materials) with the Director of Operations.
  • Works with Project Manager in project planning, scheduling, coordination and invoicing through execution and payment.
  • Directs and manages the site team consisting of Construction Manager, Site Safety Manager, Site Logistics Manager and Site Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Ensures efficiency and compliance to policy and procedures.
  • Develops crew list Project Manager, Director of Operations and Quality Assurance Director (for QA personnel assignments).
  • Coordinates transportation (permitting) and logistics tasks regarding and all equipment and tooling needs.
  • Manages, interacts and cultivates a working relationship with the client/customer.
  • Works closely with Health and Safety team audits and weekly safety focuses.
  • Acts as the contract expert.
  • Understands and addresses potential scope and schedule changes, assists Project Manager with development, submittals and negotiations related to change orders.
  • Establishes lines of communication with local union representatives; negotiates and coordinates appropriate manpower needs.
  • Is responsible for regularly and accurately communicating the project status, including schedule, profitability, quality control, safety concerns with executive project and Support service team.
  • Maintains a project file with SharePoint.
