About The Position

RQ Construction, a nationally recognized Design-Build contractor, is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to manage commercial construction projects in Norfolk, Virginia. The APM will be involved in all phases of project management, from preconstruction through closeout, including coordinating schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and field operations. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience leading complex, fast-track projects, either by supporting a larger project, overseeing a specific scope, or managing smaller projects independently. Local candidates are preferred, but qualified out-of-area candidates will be considered and may be eligible for relocation assistance or per diem.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 4+ years of construction industry experience preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Project Engineer
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • OSHA 30, CPR, and First Aid certifications (training available if needed)
  • Must provide evidence of identity and U.S. work authorization at the time of hire.
  • Must successfully pass a drug screening and commercial criminal background check, including a stricter Department of Defense background check, for access to job site at military base (if applicable for position being hired for).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Primavera P6, Viewpoint, BIM, or Revit is a plus
  • LEED Green Associate and QCM certifications are a plus
