About The Position

We are a full-service mechanical contractor providing customers in the commercial, residential, and industrial sectors with innovative, energy-efficient heating and air conditioning services, automation and controls, industrial piping, new construction design and installation, and maintenance and replacement services. Job Summary Job Title: Assistant Project Manager Department: Commercial Construction Reports to: VP of Healthcare Construction Summary of Position: Assist the Field Construction Manager/PM with planning, implementing and monitoring the construction project’s progress to ensure excellence is achieved. Excellence is defined as delivering an above average installation from a quality standpoint that is a properly operating system on time and within budget while maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer satisfaction. This position will require jobsite presence more than 50% of the work week.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of supervisory procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC duct, piping, and equipment
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to perform additional physical activities that require considerable use of limbs and appendages such as climbing, lifting, reaching above shoulders, balancing, walking, stooping, and kneeling.
  • Ability to lift, move and handle 80lbs tools or materials.
  • Ability to climb and work from ladders, aerial lifts, or scaffolding.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces or uneven terrain.
  • Ability to work in environmental conditions that range from working outdoors during all seasons, indoor office environments, and utility plants.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with quantifying, ordering, and purchasing miscellaneous sheet metal and piping materials as required to complete project on schedule and on budget.
  • Assist with verifying that all current plans, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, and installation instructions are accurate and are effectively utilized by field crews.
  • Assist with preparing and assembling shop drawings and submittals not handled by sales engineer.
  • Assist with attending scheduled job progress meetings and notify superintendent, foremen, or mechanic of status of work and schedule.
  • Assist with documenting job delays and problems with GC and sales engineer.
  • Assist in scheduling delivery of materials and equipment with superintendents, foremen, mechanics, suppliers, warehouse, and sheet metal shop.
  • Assist with preparing and initiating correspondence with customer, other trades, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, engineers, and architects.
  • Assist with notifying salesman of any potential change orders and change order request as needed.
  • Assist salesman with progress billings based on status of work completed.
  • Assist with monitoring weekly job cost and analyzing specific cost items with field crews.
  • Assist with monitoring piping and sheet metal labor cost in order to meet estimated cost.
  • Assist with monitor piping and sheet metal material cost in order to meet estimated cost.
  • Assist with monitor and preparing explanation when actual job cost deviates from estimated job cost.
  • Assist with notifying coordination department of construction schedule and help with scheduling when coordination drawings are needed for sheet metal and piping needs.
  • Assist the Field Construction Manager/PM with the development of field crews with training that is desired and/or required.
  • Assist the Field Construction Manager/PM with recruitment and retention of field crews.
  • Assist with ensuring that adequate sheet metal and piping field force is maintained on construction projects.
  • Assist in scheduling sheet metal shop and pipe fab shop activities for ship dates to sites and verify deliveries are received as required for field forces.
  • Assist with coordinating project needs in order to maintain piping and sheet metal labor productivity.
  • Assist superintendent, foremen, or mechanic with labor projections and scheduling.
  • Assist with verifying all safety policies are adhered to.
  • Request assistance from safety manager when questions regarding safety become apparent on jobsites.
  • Provide field assistance at job sites for field crews in order to ensure field productivity.
  • Assist superintendents, foremen, and mechanics with work sequence and needs.
  • Assist the Field Construction Manager/PM with preparing two weeks look ahead schedule for all projects with durations of eight weeks or longer.
  • Update two week look ahead schedule weekly.
  • Note that this is to be performed by the PM in conjunction with the field crews at the job site on a weekly basis.
  • Assist with updating labor loading forecast spreadsheet once a month.
  • Provide assistance on site when installing all equipment in order to verify proper installation Walk projects weekly to verify installation is according to plans, specifications, and installation instructions for equipment.
  • Assist with preparing in house punch list for deficiencies noted during weekly walk through and turn over to superintendent, foreman, or mechanic in charge of project for correction.
  • Assist with tracking rental equipment and monitoring use on jobsites.
  • Assist the Field Construction Manager/PM with scheduling subcontractors and monitoring performance on jobsite.
  • Assist construction administrative staff as required in order to complete final closeout documents such as test and balance reports, O&M manuals, and any other turn over documents required.
  • Assist the Field Construction Manager/PM with maintaining connection with customer during the warranty period and be the first point of contact during that time.
