About The Position

An Assistant Project Manager (APM) in construction supports the lead Project Manager by managing daily administrative and field operations to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget. They act as a key liaison between vendors, subcontractors, and site staff, handling documentation, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, cost tracking, and safety compliance. APMs are essential for assisting with the planning, execution, and closeout of projects, often taking on more responsibility as they gain experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Architecture and/or a construction related field.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in project coordination or a similar support role.
  • Proficiency in project management software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe, Bluebeam Review, Auto Cad, and/or Procore
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage submittments, RFIs (Requests for Information), contracts, and project files to ensure accurate documentation.
  • Track progress, coordinate subcontractor tasks, and update schedules.
  • Assist with project financials, change orders, procurement, and cost analysis.
  • Assist in site visits, monitoring quality control, and enforcing safety standards.
  • Act as a bridge between the office, field, and clients, including preparing progress reports and holding meetings.
  • Assist the Project Management team in developing detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Coordinate daily project activities and communicate updates to team members and stakeholders.
  • Monitor project progress and assist in identifying and mitigating risks and issues.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, including status reports, meeting minutes, and action items.
  • Support resource allocation and procurement processes to ensure timely availability of materials and personnel.
  • Facilitate communication between cross-functional teams to promote collaboration and resolve conflicts.
  • Assist in organizing and leading project meetings, ensuring follow-up on decisions and tasks.
  • Track project deliverables and ensure compliance with quality standards and client requirements.
