About The Position

Sargent Electric Company is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to report to their Pittsburgh, PA project site. This role is responsible for supporting the effective planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and operational excellence. The position may require periodic travel or relocation based on project needs. Additional duties may be delegated by Sargent Executive Management.

Requirements

  • Experience with standard construction management applications such as Accubid Anywhere, Vista, Bluebeam, Project Site, Procore, Plangrid, Building Connected, Trimble Materials, Navisworks, and other related construction applications.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Proficient with computers, particularly Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to type.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of diverse individuals.
  • Ability to work efficiently under tight timeframes, respond to requests in a timely manner, and communicate effectively as a team player.
  • Understanding of the importance of being able to multi-task.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a technical college degree with 3-5 years related discipline preferred.
  • Some relevant experience, 3-5 years in a multi-trade construction environment, preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Champion Safety Culture by upholding safety standards and supporting the implementation of best practices.
  • Support project leadership in coordinating day-to-day activities related to scope execution, schedule adherence, cost tracking, and issue resolution.
  • Assist project leadership in the development, monitoring, and updating of project schedules, budgets, and job cost reports.
  • Maintain project document control processes, ensuring accuracy, currency, and compliance of all project documentation.
  • Process submittments and RFI responses to support fabrication and field production activities.
  • Assist with purchase orders, subcontract coordination, material tracking, and delivery logistics.
  • Interface with field teams to support planning, execution, and problem-solving.
  • Support the identification, documentation, and tracking of changes, risks, and delays.
  • Assist with invoice review, cost tracking, forecasting inputs, and financial reporting.
  • Maintain professional communication with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead or support project meetings, prepare agendas, document minutes, and track action items.
  • Assist in managing project closeout activities, including documentation, punch list coordination, and turnover requirements.
  • Begin taking on leadership responsibilities by mentoring Project Engineers and supporting team coordination.
  • Identify and engage in learning opportunities through hands-on experience, training, and mentorship.
