The Assistant Project Manager will manage asset management operations on a comprehensive roadway maintenance project in Fort Pierce, FL, reporting to the Project Manager. Responsibilities include performing a wide range of duties related to mechanical/civil engineering, work planning, crew scheduling, roadway repair analysis, project report preparation, client interfacing, and adherence to regulations and company policies. A technical background in engineering or construction management is preferred. The APM supports the Project Manager in project delivery, leadership, and coordination between office management and field operations. This role combines technical and client-facing responsibilities with operational oversight, ensuring project objectives are met on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. The APM works closely with the PM on planning, scheduling, budgeting, and client relationships, while also assisting the Operations Manager in supervising field activities, coaching staff, and reinforcing team culture. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience in a dynamic environment, meticulous organizational skills, adaptive problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to create functional teams. The position requires working in a unique environment encompassing office, project-site, and professional meetings.

Requirements

  • English language fluency written and verbal
  • Minimum 1-3 years' experience with project management, or team leadership
  • Highly efficient organizational skills in a multi-faceted long-term project environment
  • Experience in engineering/construction
  • Ability to rapidly develop a competent understanding of technical roadway maintenance specifications
  • Ability to lead, direct, and manage field maintenance crews and office staff
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
  • Effective communicator at all professional levels and styles (verbal, f2f, messaging, phone, email, etc.)
  • Ability to manage project field emergencies 24/7
  • Ability to analyze field accomplishment data and prepare reports, statements and projections
  • Working knowledge of short and long term contract budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and revenue analysis
  • High School Diploma
  • Competency of Microsoft Office 365 suite software

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance engineering operations on roadway/tunnel assets, repair, and emergency operations.
  • Manage project office and field operations.
  • Supervising field project inspections with annual QA/QC assessments.
  • Coordinate financial planning and project budget projections that will assist senior managers.
  • Track/report maintenance contract performance relative to plan, contract, and company targets.
  • Work with Senior/Regional/Project Managers to develop short-term and long-term project maintenance repair plans and technical support.
  • Perform analysis to improve field prosecution, crew efficiency and maximize operational safety.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for presentation to Client and Corporate operations centers.
  • Reviewing and approving plans, payments, and change orders for contracts.
  • Offering technical support to other departments involved in the project's operations and maintenance.
  • Assisting in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings and calculations.
  • Conducting data acquisition and analysis, researching alternative design approaches, and preparing reports and permit applications.
  • Creating business cases to evaluate the best options for highway operations.
  • Updating the GIS model as required.
  • Providing necessary training to the Maintenance Team to enhance their responsibilities.
  • Ensuring compliance with the O&M Measurement and Performance Tables.
  • Assist the Project Manager with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Act as a secondary client contact, supporting the PM in communications, reporting, and relationship management.
  • Oversee specific project components or work programs delegated by the PM, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Support the Operations Manager in supervising field operations, including safety compliance, staffing, scheduling, and QA/QC.
  • Monitor project costs and progress, identifying risks or variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead coordination between office and field teams, ensuring clear communication of project goals, production targets, and expectations.
  • Contribute to staff development through training, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Review documentation for accuracy and compliance, including safety records, production data, and contract deliverables.
  • Serve as acting project lead in the absence of the Project Manager, with limited delegated authority.
