About The Position

The mission of the Real Estate Development and Facilities (RED+F) Department is to plan, develop, operate, and maintain the campus of NYU Langone Health, providing the foundation for its growth and success. RED+F offers strategic campus planning and project development services, including architectural studies, programming, design, construction, and associated infrastructure and technological upgrades for new and renovated structures. The Department also operates and manages all facilities, infrastructure, and related support services across the medical center. This position requires assisting Project Managers in developing project definitions, scopes, and budgets, performing field inspections of ongoing construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with contract documents and NYU construction standards, and adherence to schedules. It also involves coordinating schedules with NYU hospital and school functions to ensure accessibility to construction sites, reviewing construction documents for compliance with NYU construction standards, and maintaining cost control. The role demonstrates knowledge of the organization's Service Standards and incorporates them into daily duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS), preferably in Construction Management, Engineering or Architecture.
  • 0-3 years experience in project management.
  • Experience in construction trades.
  • Experience in complex operations within a hospital and school environment.
  • Knowledge of infectious control procedures.
  • Experience in management of contractors.
  • Experience in interpreting construction drawings.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years experience in project management.
  • Experience on two sides of the business (i.e., consultant, owner, owner rep, contract/architect, contractor, engineer).
  • Prior experience in project management, architectural or engineering design, construction trades, and/or facilities management is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining, developing, and implementing project plans, including definition, scope, budgets, and schedules, incorporating input from appropriate team members, consultants, and clients.
  • Participating in cost control activities by seeking the most effective method of delivering services.
  • Coordinating project meetings with NYU in-house personnel to schedule work, coordinate shutdowns, tie-ins, and contractor access.
  • Applying basic project management skills, including design, construction, occupancy, and budget management.
  • Working with the project manager to assist in client relations and the development of project work plans.
  • Helping to create presentations for project meetings.
  • Assisting the project manager in reviewing bids and related documents.
  • Helping the Project Manager in the facilitation of client meetings regarding project matters.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
