About The Position

As a Assistant Project Manager – Midstream at LJA Energy, you will lead multidisciplinary engineering projects within LJA’s Energy Division, supporting oil and gas midstream facilities from pursuit through execution. This role involves direct interaction with clients, contractors, and internal design teams, with responsibility for project delivery, coordination, and overall quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas or reciprocal states, or ability to obtain licensure within one year
  • 2–3 years of experience managing multidisciplinary engineering projects in the oil and gas sector
  • Experience with midstream facilities and installations
  • Familiarity with P&IDs, PFDs, facility site planning, equipment specification and procurement, and construction package assembly
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships
  • Experience managing and mentoring engineering and design staff

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing both stand-alone midstream projects and larger program-level work
  • Hands-on involvement in QA/QC processes for complex engineering deliverables
  • Comfort working in client-facing environments and supporting business development efforts

Responsibilities

  • Identifying, bidding, and executing midstream projects across a range of facility types
  • Working directly with clients and contractors during bid phase, including responding to RFIs and providing technical support
  • Managing engineering execution during construction, including technical construction management support
  • Coordinating QA/QC for engineering packages, including client specification reviews, comment incorporation, and full drawing package reviews
  • Compiling and distributing complete engineering document packages
  • Leading and coordinating multidisciplinary teams of engineers and designers on medium-sized projects and larger project programs
  • Maintaining clear communication across internal teams, clients, and external partners
