Assistant Project Manager, Geologist
About The Position
Haley & Aldrich is seeking an Assistant Project Manager, Geologist, to join their growing team. This role will provide technical support to highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. The position is a full-time, remote role based near Tampa, FL, and is linked to the Greenville, SC office. The selected candidate will support field work and assist with the management of site characterization and remediation projects for utility, real estate, industrial, and manufacturing clients. Responsibilities include overseeing groundwater monitoring well installation, collecting environmental samples, evaluating and interpreting field and laboratory data, and supporting the development of work plans and technical reports. The role also involves project proposal development, contracting support, task management, and coordination with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure quality work is delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related field.
- 6+ years of related experience.
- Professional registration or certification, as applicable.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient computer literacy skills including use of the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint) and the ability to learn various software needed to support financial management, diverse project needs, and client requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with outputs from industry-specific geologic modeling software.
- Experience supporting site characterization and remediation projects, including groundwater monitoring well installation oversight, environmental sample collection, data evaluation, and interpretation.

- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates.

Responsibilities
- Split time between completing technical tasks such as field assignments, reporting, and analysis with task management and project management support activities.
- Leverage understanding of technical scopes of work for assigned work and their alignment with overall project objectives to deliver quality assignments.
- Demonstrate and apply technical competence, knowledge of codes and regulations, and professional standards of practice to assigned tasks.
- Collaborate closely with project teams, field teams, and health and safety personnel to address client goals and objectives, ensuring technical accuracy, quality, budget, schedule, and safety requirements are met.
- Assist the project management team throughout the project lifecycle, including cost estimating, scheduling, subcontracting, resource allocation, project planning, task delegation, and financial management.
- Prepare and/or review written communications and technical deliverables.
- Engage in internal and external communications with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Coach, mentor, and direct junior staff to ensure high-quality execution of project tasks, including field activities and preparation of technical reports and deliverables, while facilitating knowledge transfer for team development.
- Plan and manage site characterization programs and coordinate field investigations.
- Lead project teams with the interpretation, evaluation, and summarization of subsurface data with other multidisciplinary team members to assess the impact and implications to project goals.
- Plan all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
- Demonstrate the company’s foundational safety behaviors.
- Oversee groundwater monitoring well installation and environmental sample collection activities in support of site characterization and remediation projects.
- Support development of work plans and technical reports documenting assessment findings, data interpretation, and recommended next steps.
- Support project proposal development and contracting activities for utility, real estate, industrial, and manufacturing clients.
