About The Position

The Assistant Project Manager - Electrical supports the planning, coordination and execution of electrical scopes for hydroelectric unit overhaul projects. Working closely with project managers, superintendents, field teams, subcontractors and suppliers, this role helps deliver work safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with project requirements. This is a site based role located in Kipling Ontario, 6 hours north of Sudbury.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 3-5 years of progressive experience in construction, project coordination or project management involving electrical work scopes.
  • Working knowledge of electrical construction methods, drawings, specifications, procurement and commissioning processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret contracts, drawings, technical specifications, schedules and scopes of work.
  • Strong planning, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in power generation, hydroelectric, utilities, heavy industrial or major infrastructure projects is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager with planning, coordination and execution of electrical installation, testing and commissioning activities.
  • Coordinate daily and weekly work plans with superintendents, field teams, subcontractors and other project disciplines.
  • Track project progress, costs, schedules, materials, deliverables and key performance indicators; identify emerging risks and support corrective actions.
  • Assist with procurement, including material take-offs, purchase requisitions, bid reviews, vendor coordination and delivery tracking.
  • Manage project documentation, including drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, change documentation, meeting minutes and revision control.
  • Support subcontract administration, scope coordination, progress tracking, invoice review and change management.
  • Participate in safety meetings, job hazard assessments, field inspections and coordination meetings; reinforce Bird safety expectations.
  • Support schedule updates, look-ahead planning, progress reporting, forecasting and project closeout activities.
  • Build effective relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and internal project teams.
