About The Position

The Assistant Project Manager – Limited Energy supports the Project Management team in the administration, planning, coordination, execution, financial tracking, and closeout of limited energy/low-voltage construction projects. This role works closely with Project Managers, field leadership, customers, general contractors, engineers, architects, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with company quality standards. The Assistant Project Manager may manage assigned project responsibilities independently while supporting Project Managers on larger or more complex projects. This position provides a growth path within the project management organization and requires strong organizational, communication, technical, and customer-service skills.

Requirements

  • Two-year degree in electrical construction, construction management, or a similar discipline required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. A combination of education and equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience in electrical construction, limited energy, low-voltage systems, construction coordination, or project administration preferred.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, systems, and tools used in the electrical and limited energy industry.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with the National Electrical Code.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, specifications, contract documents, and project scope requirements.
  • Understanding of project planning, scheduling, labor coordination, procurement, budgeting, and project documentation.
  • Experience coordinating with field leaders, customers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal departments preferred.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, CAD, construction/project-management software, and related business systems is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn, develop, and grow within the organization.
  • Ability to maintain positive customer relationships and work effectively as part of a project team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with project handoff, pre-planning, and coordination activities involving estimating, sales, design, engineering, technical solutions, service, field leadership, and other internal teams.
  • Review project documentation, including specifications, addenda, drawings, estimates, proposals, takeoffs, bills of materials, and scopes of work for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating project schedules based on customer requirements, general contractor schedules, construction progress, and field installation needs.
  • Support labor planning and forecasting by tracking project development, productivity, installation progress, and labor needs; coordinate labor requests with field leadership.
  • Assist in supervising and coordinating general foremen, foremen, and field crews in accordance with executed contracts, union agreements, Company policies, procedures, safety expectations, and quality standards.
  • Maintain and develop strong working relationships with customers, architects, engineers, general contractors, other trades, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Assist with preparing and maintaining project files, correspondence, schedules, reports, meeting notes, logs, and other project documentation.
  • Support design and engineering teams by providing information needed for submittmits, cut sheets, shop drawings, design progress meetings, and installation planning.
  • Assist with obtaining and tracking required permits for assigned scopes of work.
  • Support Project Managers in monitoring project budgets, costs, committed expenses, forecasts, and overall financial performance.
  • Assist with regularly scheduled project billing, billing documentation, and billing-related communication.
  • Maintain project reporting requirements, including project start and end dates, backlog updates, progress reports, productivity information, and KPI comments.
  • Conduct job site visits to monitor project progress, identify issues, verify compliance with safety and quality expectations, and support field personnel.
  • Assist with the preparation, pricing, coordination, tracking, and submission of change orders.
  • Create, coordinate, track, and submit RFIs through appropriate channels as necessary.
  • Coordinate material procurement, purchase order requests, subcontract requests, committed purchase orders, and blanket purchase orders as assigned.
  • Track materials to ensure availability for installation; verify delivered materials, coordinate deliveries and storage needs, and assist with returns or RMAs when required.
  • Coordinate vendors and subcontractors to ensure they have current schedules, project expectations, and required project information.
  • Assist with project kick-off meetings and provide field leadership with documentation, schedules, material information, and installation expectations needed for successful project execution.
  • Support field personnel by helping resolve issues and coordinating required resources, tools, equipment, material, engineering support, and technical support.
  • Identify project risks and concerns, communicate them promptly to the Project Manager and appropriate stakeholders, and assist with mitigation efforts.
  • Assist with project closeout documentation, including O&M manuals, test results, warranties, as-built information, and final turnover deliverables.
  • Support final testing, commissioning, end-user training, and project turnover activities as assigned.
  • Participate in Company-provided training and maintain relevant licenses and certifications as required.
