About The Position

NexGen Contracting is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to play a vital role in our operations. This position is involved in various stages of the project lifecycle, including pre-construction, execution, and close-out. The role demands a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment and is driven to exceed expectations while fostering teamwork and professional development. NexGen Contracting, the self-perform arm of Gray, is based in Franklin, TN, and specializes in executing turnkey project scopes, including concrete, steel, millwright, and finishes. NexGen is fully integrated with Gray Construction and serves as a preferred subcontractor. The NexGen team is made of career, trade-specific professionals and core craftsmen with decades of experience who are dedicated to meeting our customers’ unique needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction science, construction management, engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university and 1 year of experience in construction, or 5 years of construction related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, MS Project, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time and be based on a project site.
  • Effective planning and resource management skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to monitor construction schedules and identify potential issues.
  • Proactive in promoting and ensuring workplace safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Procore, Bluebeam, CMIC is a preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure project safety compliance.
  • Understand job cost spread and project estimates.
  • Participate in project sequencing and scheduling.
  • Track project progress and analyze production.
  • Engage in project cost reporting.
  • Handle invoice coding and approval.
  • Oversee material/equipment procurement.
  • Manage change order requests and tracking.
  • Coordinate with general contractors/owners.
  • Assist with reporting requirements, including field time and productivity, materials, safety, and other relevant aspects.
