Assistant Program Facilitator — Paid Training Provided
About The Position
Snapology of Lancaster is seeking a dependable and enthusiastic Assistant Program Facilitator for a part-time position, offering approximately 15-20 hours per week with opportunities for additional hours. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals with experience around children who are eager to learn and develop skills in group management and program delivery through paid, hands-on training. The position provides a clear path for advancement to an independent Program Facilitator role based on demonstrated skills and reliability. Teaching certification and prior classroom management experience are not prerequisites.
Requirements
- Experience being around or working with children (e.g., parenting, babysitting, caregiving, church activities, volunteering, coaching, camps, childcare, or similar settings).
- Genuine enjoyment of working with children.
- Friendly, patient, encouraging, and dependable demeanor.
- Willingness to learn group-management and facilitation skills.
- Comfortable receiving coaching and feedback.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation to the Snapology Discovery Center and other local program locations.
- Ability to lift and carry program materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to obtain and maintain all required clearances (Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Child Abuse, and FBI federal background clearances).
- Current Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it after hire.
- Dependable, organized, professional, and enthusiastic.
Nice To Haves
- Monday and Friday availability from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist experienced Program Facilitators with hands-on programs for children ages 4-14, including creative building, problem-solving, and collaborative activities.
- Learn and practice group management, program delivery, safety procedures, and curriculum utilization through paid training.
- Support and engage children by encouraging participation, assisting with activities, reinforcing expectations, and ensuring an inclusive environment.
- Prepare and organize program spaces, including setting up materials before programs and cleaning/sorting materials afterward.
- Assist with supervision and adhere to Snapology's safety, behavior-management, and program procedures.
- Professionally represent Snapology through positive communication with children, families, coworkers, and community partners.
