About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Head Start/Early Head Start Program Director, the Head Start/Early Head Start Assistant Program Director assists the Head Start /Early Head Start Program Director in administering the Head Start program. Provides leadership and oversight of Head Start/Early Head Start program operations in collaboration with the Program Director. Oversees Area Supervisors and Content Area staff to ensure effective program management, consistent service delivery, and compliance with Head Start standards and program requirements. Supports the delivery of comprehensive, high-quality services to children and families while promoting continuity across program areas. Reviews and provides recommendations regarding personnel matters, including recruitment, employment, retention, promotion, and termination, while supporting staff performance and organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, human services, or related field required
  • Minimum two (2) years supervisory and program operations experience
  • Leadership ability and good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Organizational, problem solving, interpersonal and analytical skills required.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing and receive and provide feedback,
  • Computer literate.
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
  • Must be computer literate and have accurate typing skills as well as the ability to operate a variety of office equipment;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal and analytical skills required;
  • Knowledge of community resources, methods and practices of health and safety precautions, providing age-appropriate education services and facilitating family involvement in program services;
  • Ability to comply with Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen and tuberculosis test.
  • An Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation background check is required.
  • Must be found to be free from any physical, mental or emotional conditions, determined by a qualified physician and/or psychologist, which with or without accommodation might affect the ability of the employee to perform essential job functions.
