About The Position

The Assistant Program Director – Property Specialist assists the Program Director oversee all operations of the Certified Apartment Program serving adult who have a mental illness. Responsibilities include supervision of staff, client services, and ensuring the program is following all safety and regulations according to the agency standards. This position also has the responsibilities of the acquisition and leasing of client apartments from landlords in the community following process for approval. Ensures that the apartments are kept in good order, repairs needed are complete, and the apartment provides a welcoming, safe and clean home for our clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services with 1 year of exp. in human services; or associate’s degree in human services with 3 years of exp. in human services; or High School Diploma with 5 yyearsof exp. in human services.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid and insurable NYS driver's license.
  • Must have your own vehicle to use for business purposes.

Nice To Haves

  • Mental health experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support clients in developing independent living skills.
  • Provide informal counseling and guidance focused on problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director and interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized service plans.
  • Respond to client crises in accordance with agency protocols; participate in a client after hours on-call rotation to provide crisis intervention and management.
  • Provide regular supervision, training, and support to staff members.
  • Manage program-related purchases, petty cash, client accounts and ensuring the timely submission of receipts and documentation.
  • Maintain an Electronic Case Record for each client on the assigned caseload.
  • Coordinate acquisition and leasing of apartments in alignment with client needs and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain regular and consistent communication with landlords to acquire apartments, lease renewals, repairs, inspections, and concerns. Follow up as needed.
  • Manage lease processes, renewals, and required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Conduct routine apartment walkthroughs and identify maintenance or safety issues.
  • Ensure apartments are safe, furnished, and maintained according to agency and regulatory standards.
  • Track apartment conditions and address recurring issues.
  • Coordinate maintenance, repairs, pest control, cleaning, and apartment turnovers.
  • Complete and coordinate monthly quality assurance on all apartments to ensure apartments meet safety requirements compliant with agency and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide transportation to clients as needed using agency vehicles; must maintain and follow all driving standards and regulations.
  • All employees must be able to travel to all levels of the facility in a safe and reasonable time frame.
  • Client services in the community include visits to clients’ apartments which can be on the second and third floors.
  • Travel between program locations, clients’ apartments, and community-based services.

Benefits

  • Salary - $25.26/hour, $52,540/annual equivalent.

  • Rotating on-call, $150/week on-call stipend.
