About The Position

The YMCA Arlington is seeking an experienced youth development professional to serve as Assistant Program Director for its summer day camp program. The role oversees the summer camp program and manages its daily operations, while maintaining high expectations and ensuring a fun, positive environment. The Assistant Program Director builds relationships with children and families, supports enriching educational programming and positive child outcomes, helps develop camp curriculum, and assists with hiring, training, and supervising summer camp staff.

Requirements

• GED or college degree.
• At least 2 years of experience working primarily with preschool, school-age, or summer camp children.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations of summer day camp programs.
• Establish relationships with individual children and families and respond to their needs.
• Ensure children receive enriching educational programming focused on positive experiences and child outcomes.
• Assist staff in developing summer camp curriculum with meaningful experiences that meet the needs and interests of groups and individual children.
• Assist with interviewing and hiring qualified staff.
• Supervise summer camp staff and provide appropriate orientation and training.
