About The Position

The Assistant Program Director provides leadership to staff in collaboration with the Program Director. The Assistant Director will assist the director with staff supervision, training and hiring of staff. The APD is responsible for helping to ensure all program operations are conducted in an ethical and professional manner. Resources for Human Development, Montgomery County Homeless Services and Genny’s Place offers a safe place to stay and assistance for individuals experiencing homelessness, helping them transition towards independent living. The program is a partnership between Your Way Home, Montgomery County’s Office of Behavioral Health, and Resources for Human Development. The program specifically caters to single adults without housing. Clients have access to dedicated caseworkers who help them find permanent housing and apply for necessary benefits. Additionally, we provide practical support such as laundry facilities, transportation, meals, clothing, and essential life skills training. For more than 50 years, Resources for Human Development has been dedicated to improving lives through high-quality services and support. Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, human services or related field from an accredited institution, preferred.
  • 3 years' work experience in mental health/IDD direct service and 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • A High School diploma required with 7 years of experience in mental health/IDD direct service and 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Products and Applications.
  • Valid Driver’s License and personal vehicle.
  • Subject to employment screenings, including FBI clearance, if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Residential Managers/Program Managers and Direct Support Professionals to include daily operations, supervision practices, implementation of consumer plans and documentation.
  • Supervise Fiscal Admin, Medical Staff, and Program Specialist in the absence of the Program Director.
  • In collaboration with the Fiscal Administrator or Office Manager, provide oversight to the recruitment process to include scheduling candidates for and participating in interviews.
  • Oversee the hiring, and orientation of new staff as necessary.
  • Support management team with documentation around supervision to include progressive discipline as warranted.
  • Reviews site documentation in preparation for audits both internal and external.
  • Supports the Unit Director in adhering to license, funder and budget requirements.
  • Provide support and intervention for individuals and staff during a crisis.
  • Create an environment that empowers individuals through the development of skills and coordination of resources and supportive services.
  • Other duties as assigned.
