About The Position

The Department of Microbiology & Immunology in Glendale, AZ invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The 12-month position is supported by a competitive salary and benefit package, fully funded by the institution. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree, with at least 2 years of postdoctoral training, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching future healthcare professionals. The new faculty member will participate in team-taught courses offered by the department to osteopathic medical, podiatry, pharmacy, dental, optometry, veterinary, and health science students. Candidates with expertise in any area of microbiology or immunology are encouraged to apply, with preference given to applicants with formal training in immunology or virology, or whose research program is fundamentally grounded in one or both disciplines. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a rigorous research program capable of attracting extramural funding. Midwestern University has an active research community with diverse interests that provides ample opportunity for collaborative research. A start-up package, office and research space, core facilities, and technical support will be provided by the institution. About the Department: The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is part of the College of Graduate Studies (CGS) and consists of eight full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty who are fully committed to providing current and comprehensive teaching approaches and active research opportunities for students of all healthcare disciplines. Departmental teaching is supported by administrative office staff, modern classroom and lecture hall facilities, and a student testing center. Our faculty are highly collegial with diverse research interests, including viral, bacterial, fungal, protozoal, and prion disease pathogenesis and prevention. Faculty research is complemented by a staff of three research technicians supported by the University.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or equivalent degree
