About The Position

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is seeking to hire full-time faculty members at the Assistant Professor level in the appointment (non-tenure) stream. The selected candidate will be actively engaged in patient care, teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and conducting orthopaedic research as directed by the Chair and division chief. This position is specifically for recruitment within the Primary Care Sports Medicine subspecialty program.

Requirements

  • A medical degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in a primary care specialty (e.g., Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Pediatrics).
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship.
  • Board certification in primary specialty, with a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Sports Medicine or eligibility with a plan to obtain within six months.
  • Eligibility for licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Proficiency in musculoskeletal ultrasound and familiarity with orthobiologics.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, collaborate within a multidisciplinary performance team, and thrive in a high-volume clinical environment.
  • Qualified physician applicants must meet the minimum position credentials for the orthopaedic specialty to provide clinical service.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest and ability in clinical care and teaching.
  • Possess strong clinical, interpersonal, analytical, and writing skills.
  • A record of scholarly publications and presentations is expected.
  • Evidence of interest in and involvement in research is expected.
