About The Position

The School of Accountancy at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is hiring a tenure-track Assistant Professor. Preference will be given to candidates whose research specializations include auditing, analytics, and/or Accounting Information Systems. The successful candidate will teach courses related to their specialization and maintain an approved scholarly research program, with the aim of publishing in premier and high-quality journals and presenting research at an appropriate level. Teaching includes undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the candidate’s primary and secondary teaching specialty areas. The current standard teaching load is six hours (two courses) per semester with an approved research program. The role also includes service and governance activities representing the School, College, and/or University in professional, community, and university organizations, and supporting SIU’s mission of student success and retention. The anticipated start date is August 10, 2027. Application review begins November 1, 2026. The position is represented by SIU Carbondale Faculty Association/IEA-NEA.

Requirements

• Hold a Ph.D. or appropriate terminal degree in accounting or a related field by the effective date of employment.
• Applicants who have completed all but the dissertation and expect to complete all doctoral requirements before August 10, 2027, will be considered.
• Have a research agenda aimed at high-quality publications, such as in AAA section journals.

Nice To Haves

• Research specialization in auditing, analytics, and/or Accounting Information Systems.
• Professional certification.
• Ph.D. from an AACSB-accredited institution.

Responsibilities
