About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has a unique combination of education, research, and clinical programs that encourages and supports teamwork and diversity. The Assistant Professor in the Department of Dermatology will support the academic missions of UAMS through high-quality clinical care, education, and service. This faculty member will primarily provide outpatient dermatology care for patients with a wide range of skin conditions while also contributing to resident, medical student, and learner education. Responsibilities include shared inpatient consult and call coverage with other faculty members. The department is committed to expanding outreach and improving access to dermatologic care across Arkansas. This position is a Designated Research Position and is regulated by the Arkansas Research Education Protection Act of 2025. Prior to issuance of an offer of employment, the University is required to request and obtain additional information about an applicant’s background and, if required, conduct an additional review of that background information

Requirements

  • M.D. or equivalent.
  • License to practice medicine or eligibility for licensure in Arkansas.
  • Candidate must be Dermatology board eligible (preferably board certified).
  • Service and experience commensurate with the rank of assistant professor (indicated by academic appointment approval)

Responsibilities

  • Provide predominantly outpatient clinical care for patients with a variety of dermatologic conditions
  • Teach and mentor resident physicians, medical students, and other learners
  • Participate in inpatient dermatology consults and shared call coverage
  • Support the academic missions of clinical care, education, and research
  • Contribute to departmental goals focused on outreach and expanding access to dermatologic care across the state
