Western Connecticut State University’s School of Professional Studies is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Counselor Education in the Department of Educational Psychology for the 2027–2028 academic year. The position requires the successful candidate to work on campus and teach clinical mental health and school counseling courses in the Counselor Education Program, which delivers instruction in a hybrid format with synchronous online and in-person components. The candidate must hold weekly on-campus office hours and participate in on-campus skills clinics three Saturdays per semester. Summer and intersession teaching may be available. The successful candidate will engage in appropriate service and scholarly activity, including research and grant writing; support Chi Sigma Iota; and collaborate with colleagues on program evaluation, CACREP accreditation activities, and student field placements. The candidate will serve on department, university, and program committees. The program is CACREP-accredited and offers master's degrees in clinical mental health counseling and school counseling. The university seeks candidates who value and encourage diversity, including neurodiversity, and who have experience working with students from different backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for first-generation and underrepresented groups. The position is contingent on proof of citizenship or employability under IRCA and successful completion of a background check. WCSU is unable to sponsor work visas; applicants must already be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
