The Department of Child, Adolescent, & Family Studies at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin August 2027. This role is for teacher-scholars whose research and teaching intersect family studies and child development, with a preference for candidates with expertise in families with young children and the ability to teach courses in family studies, early childhood development, and early childhood education. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in family studies, specialize in early childhood development, and engage in scholarship and teaching that supports historically underrepresented groups, diversity, equity, and/or social justice. The department offers theoretical and practical application courses to prepare graduates for careers working with children of diverse backgrounds, merging developmental knowledge with practical experience, and preparing students for graduate training. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and master's level courses in family studies and early childhood development, demonstrate excellence in university teaching, and maintain an active research program involving undergraduate and graduate students. A record of scholarly activities, such as peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations, is expected, and the potential for securing external funding is desirable. The position requires a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and effective collaboration with faculty, staff, and students across disciplines.
