About The Position

The School of Theatre & Dance is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Theatre Arts, beginning August 2027. This role focuses on live performance and theatrical Stage Management and/or Production Management. The primary responsibilities include teaching theatre management within the undergraduate curriculum and serving as the production manager for the academic unit. The university is particularly interested in candidates with a demonstrated commitment to diversity and excellence in academic programs through their research, teaching, and service.

Requirements

  • M.F.A. or equivalent terminal degree in theatre or related field from an accredited program (must be completed by the first day of employment)
  • Expertise and active achievement in live performance for theatrical stage/production management or other similar events
  • Proven experience demonstrating an ability to guide undergraduate students through a theatrical production process
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students from historically under-represented communities and incorporate inclusion, diversity, and educational equity in teaching, and/or scholarship/creative works and their creation processes
  • Record of working and communicating effectively with colleagues and students

Responsibilities

  • Teaching theatre management in the undergraduate theatre curriculum
  • Serving as production manager for the academic unit's productions
  • Continuing an active program of creative work in one's area of specialty
  • Serving on departmental, college, and university committees
  • Mentoring and advising undergraduate students
