About The Position

California State University (CSU), Chico is seeking an Assistant Tenure-Track Professor for the School of Social Work, starting Fall 2027. This position is within the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. The university is a comprehensive, residential public university with Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) designation, committed to recruiting outstanding candidates who embrace values of student success and equity gap elimination. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and will contribute to an inclusive, accessible, and equitable learning and working environment. The anticipated hiring range is $86,000-$91,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience. The initial review date for applications is 10/23/2026.

Requirements

Master of Social Work (MSW)
Terminal degree (i.e. DSW, PhD, EdD, etc.) in social work or related area (candidates nearing completion may be considered, but all requirements must be met by the start date)
Two years post MSW practice experience
Teaching experience across the curriculum such as direct practice skills, assessment, program evaluation, policy analysis, and social advocacy
Ability to utilize educational technology both online and in the classroom
Interpersonal skills that facilitate communication and connection across diverse communities
All work must be performed within the State of California
Faculty assignments include in-person duties that require an on-campus presence
Background check must be completed satisfactorily
Disclosure of any final administrative or judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years (after meeting minimum qualifications and before offer)
Sign a release form authorizing the release of information by current and/or former employers concerning any substantiated allegations of misconduct (for final stage applicants)
Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
Compliance with CSU Executive Order 1083 (revised July 21, 2017) as a condition of employment (mandated reporter)
Duty to report to the campus Title IX coordinator information pertaining to discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct or exploitation, dating or domestic violence, stalking, and/or retaliation under CSU policy
