Criminal Justice - Full-Time, Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professor
About The Position
Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Teaching, research/scholarly activities, department/school, college, and university service are expected. The position is a full-time, non-tenure track position. The primary responsibility of this position is teaching a variety of courses for the School of Criminal Justice. The successful candidate should be able to teach a broad range of courses from introductory undergraduate to graduate level, with preferred qualifications in teaching a variety of topics concerning policing, legal, and investigative courses. The successful candidate should also be able to contribute to curriculum development and program revisions. Service and scholarly activities are standard expectations for this position. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. Faculty must be willing to teach in a variety of instructional formats (in-person, hybrid, online) as needed and appropriate. Faculty members are expected to participate in a comprehensive statewide outreach initiative to the Oklahoma criminal justice community.
Requirements
- An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institutions in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or Sociology is required.
- ABD candidates with a clear dissertation defense date will be considered.
- Demonstrate excellence in teaching
- A commitment to research/scholarship
- Service to the institution
Nice To Haves
- A doctorate in a related field will be considered (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval).
- Preferred qualifications in teaching a variety of topics concerning policing, legal, and investigative courses.
- Practical experience in the criminal justice system
- Demonstrated ability to participate in academic research
