About The Position

The Department of Neurosurgery currently seeks a Neurosurgeon at the Assistant Professor level to join the Neurosurgery Faculty. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position which will include (0.7 cFTE) at University of Colorado Hospital on the Anschutz Campus to help build the peripheral nerve program. This position will also work with our Pediatric Division (0.1 cFTE) and at Denver Health (0.2 cFTE), the latter in a capacity as an endovascular neurosurgeon. teaching, clinical, research, and service responsibilities. The position will work closely with other neurosurgeons to build and cover the Neurosurgical Peripheral Nerve practice.

Requirements

  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurosurgery
  • Graduate of an American Board of Neurological Surgery residency program
  • Maintains or is eligible for Colorado State Medical License
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other physicians and staff at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability, with capacity for program building.

Nice To Haves

  • Fellowship trained in Spinal Neurosurgery and/or substantial experience in the arenas listed above

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a neurosurgeon at UCHAnschutz (.7 FTE), CHCO-Anschutz (.1 FTE) and Denver Health (.2 FTE) providing both general and specialized skills
  • Build a peripheral nerve program at UC Anschutz and CHCO Anschutz.
  • Build an endovascular neurosurgery program at Denver Health.
  • See patients in clinic to review their case and determine suitability for surgery
  • Perform neurosurgery procedures on patients as appropriate for your medical/surgical expertise
  • Work with neurosurgery team to attain quality metrics set by Dept of Neurosurgery
  • Educate residents and fellows
  • Maintain all training, certifications, an licensing as up to date
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Participate in quality improvement efforts
  • Meet Department of Neurosurgery Citizenship requirements. Failure to comply can result in up to a 5% decrease to base salary. Requirements may vary annually.
