About The Position

The College of Education and Professional Studies at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) is seeking a Full-Time, Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Psychology, specializing in Experimental/Neuroscience. The department offers undergraduate and master's programs, with accreditations from MPCAC, NASP, and ABAI. This role involves teaching, advising, mentoring students, and engaging in scholarly activities. The position reports to the Chair of the Department and the Dean of the College.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval).
  • ABDs (all-but-dissertation) may apply, but if the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to Tenure Track-Instructor.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches, advises, and mentors students.
  • Evaluates student performance.
  • Maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies.
  • Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university.
  • Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers.
  • Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty.
  • Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested.
  • Prepares departmental reports as requested.
  • Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenure and promotion policy.
  • Teaches undergraduate and graduate (master’s level) Neuroscience/Biological/Physiological Psychology courses and other service courses such as General Psychology, Research Design, and Statistics as needed.
  • Instructs courses in a variety of formats (face-to-face, hybrid, and online) and teaches day and evening courses on rotation.
  • Involves students in research.
  • Supervises master’s thesis projects.
  • Serves on committees.
  • Advises students.
