About The Position

The Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at Boise State University is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor to join their faculty starting Fall 2027. This role involves collaborating with internal and external partners, including the Idaho National Lab, and contributing to interdisciplinary PhD programs. The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an externally funded research program, create a collaborative learning environment, communicate effectively, and mentor students. Responsibilities include teaching, research, and service on departmental, college, and university committees. The department is committed to supporting junior faculty in developing thriving research programs. The Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering is part of the College of Engineering, the largest engineering college in Idaho, with over 600 students and affiliations with five transdisciplinary PhD programs. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Potential to develop a successful, independent research program.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Competency to instruct courses in at least one of the following areas: System Modeling & Control, and Design.
  • A track record of research and publications.
  • Experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate mechanical engineering courses.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary research collaborations.
