About The Position

St. John's University, established in 1870, is a Catholic and Vincentian university with two New York City campuses and international locations. It offers over 100 undergraduate and graduate programs and is recognized for its academics, diverse student body, and internship opportunities. The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Physician Assistant faculty member for its Master of Science in Physician Assistant graduate program. This role involves collaboration with colleagues, maintaining clinical practice competence, involvement in professional organizations, scholarship, and faculty governance.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited program
  • Master’s degree or higher in a field related to the PA profession
  • Current NCCPA Certification
  • Current or eligible New York State licensure
  • Minimum of three years of experience working in a clinical setting as a Physician Assistant
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, time management and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, & Outlook
  • Unencumbered physician assistant license/certifications

Nice To Haves

  • Interprofessional and/or simulation education experience is desirable
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a PA program (preferred)
  • Candidates who demonstrate scholarship (e.g., publications, national presentations) and active participation in community and/or professional organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment, application review, interviewing and selection of applicants for admission to the program
  • Coordination and instruction of didactic and clinical year PA students including lecture content, physical diagnosis, and procedural lab instruction
  • Evaluation of student performance and providing remediation as needed
  • Student advisement and counseling
  • Serving as an active member of program, department, and university committees
  • Contributing to ongoing accreditation activities through program self-assessment/self-study as per ARC-PA and university standards
  • Participation and development of new clinical site affiliations and performing site visits
  • Assist the Clinical Coordinator in the development, scheduling, and evaluation of clinical rotations; maintain communication with preceptors and clinical sites; support student clinical placement, documentation, and compliance with ARC-PA standards
  • Engaging in active service, research, and scholarship
  • Continuous faculty/professional development
