About The Position

Emory University is seeking an Assistant Professor to serve as a Physiatrist within the Department of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine. The role primarily involves staffing a 24-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit at Grady Memorial Hospital, focusing on medically complex SCI, TBI, and Stroke patients transferring from ICU/Step-down units. This is a full-time clinical position with 1.0 FTE responsibility, requiring 5 days of active clinical activity per week. The position also includes call coverage responsibilities, managed on a rotating basis by the Chief, with supplemental pay for coverage exceeding the annual 3-week expectation. Additional duties may include supporting the consult service and outpatient clinics. The role also has teaching and research requirements, encompassing lectures, small group and bedside teaching, preceptorship, and mentorship. Responsibilities are subject to change based on departmental needs after discussion with the physician. While tasks are generally performed in-person at an Emory University location, remote work options may be granted at department discretion.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Physiatrist within the Department of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine.
  • Staff a 24-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit to treat medically complex SCI, TBI, Stroke patients in transfer from the ICU/Step-down units.
  • Fulfill 1.0 clinical FTE responsibility per week, with 5 days of active clinical activity each week, dedicated to Grady Memorial Hospital facilities.
  • Provide call coverage responsibility, including at least 3 assignments at Grady Memorial Hospital annually, with supplemental call pay for additional weeks.
  • Support the consult service.
  • Potentially provide outpatient clinic support.
  • Fulfill teaching and research requirements, including occasional lectures, small group and bedside teaching, preceptorship, and mentorship.
