About The Position
The Department of Music in the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in popular music studies, beginning July 1, 2027. The successful candidate will hold the Richman Family Endowed Professorship in Popular Music Studies and focus their research on popular music, broadly defined. The position carries a teaching load of two courses per semester, including the foundational music history sequence, topics courses, and graduate seminars. The faculty member will also share departmental advising responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels and provide service to the department and/or college. The successful candidate will join a team of music scholars, artists, and educators.
Requirements
- Completed PhD in musicology by July 31, 2027.
- An active program of research and publication in musicology.
- A demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching.
Responsibilities
- Teach two courses per semester, including the foundational music history sequence, topics courses, and graduate seminars.
- Share departmental advising responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Provide service to the department and/or college.
- Maintain an active program of research and publication in musicology.
