About The Position

The faculty member will be responsible for teaching assigned classes, helping students achieve their full potential in mastering course content, and assessing student learning outcomes. They will maintain up-to-date knowledge in their teaching field, engage in continuous professional development, and utilize current technology. The role also involves maintaining professional conduct and ethics, assisting with curriculum development and review, serving on college committees, participating in faculty governance (including accreditation and student co-curricular activities), and fulfilling other duties assigned by the area dean as a full-time faculty member. The instructional assignment may include teaching courses in American Sign Language (ASL) levels I-V, Introduction to American Deaf Education, and American Sign Language Literature, as well as various interpreting courses such as Ethics and Professional Standards, Discourse Analysis & Translation, Orientation to the Interpreting Profession, Introduction to Deaf/Blind Interpreting, Transliteration, and Introduction to Medical Interpreting. Additional duties may include serving as department chair, coordinating the Deaf Culture & ASL - English Interpreting Resource Center (with release time), serving on advisory committees, and participating in recruitment and outreach efforts.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher AND Two (2) years of professional experience OR An associate degree AND Six (6) years of professional experience OR the equivalent
Professional experience must be directly related to the assignment being taught
All degrees must be from an accredited institution completed by August 20, 2026

Transcripts must be from an accredited U.S. institution or approved foreign evaluation agency.
Foreign transcript evaluations must be issued by an AICE (Association of International Credential Evaluation, Inc.) or NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) member agency.
If more than one degree is required to meet the Minimum Qualifications (e.g., a bachelor’s and a master’s), separate transcripts for each degree must be included.
Transcripts must clearly identify the institution's name, degree title, major and/or certifications. Highlight or circle this information.
Transcripts must indicate whether each degree is completed (confer date) or in progress.
Only official or unofficial transcripts are accepted to verify education.
Applications that state “see other documents” such as “see resume” or “see transcripts,” will be disqualified.
Applications missing any required documentation will be disqualified.
